InterfaceFLOR, a worldwide leader in the manufacture of modular commercial flooring, today announced the launch of TacTiles™ in India, an innovative installation system for carpet tiles.

InterfaceFLOR makes and sells the industry’s largest and most diverse range of carpet tiles. InterfaceFLOR commenced business in India in 2001 and in the last 7 years, it has sold more than 1.5million sq. mts. of carpet tiles to over 200 major customers.
The company has set-up a 100% subsidiary in India, InterfaceFLOR India Pvt. Ltd., with headquarters in Bangalore and full fledged offices in Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai and Hyderabad. InterfaceFLOR India, which will offer the full range of carpet tiles and services to customers and business partners, expects a 30% y-o-y growth and hopes to achieve the one million sq. metre mark in sales in 2009.
TacTiles™ is a new adhesive product, which is an eco-friendly alternative that simplifies the process of carpet installation. TacTiles™ are 3"x3" adhesive squares made from a chemically inert polymer, the same material used to create soda bottles. These stickers are affixed to the backing of adjoining carpet tiles, bonding them together to create a ‘floating floor’.

The materials and methods used to formulate TacTiles™ were developed to facilitate waste reduction and minimize environmental impact. The use of TacTiles™ eliminates the need for buckets of glue as well as the accompanying rollers, fans, and spray equipment. With glue installation, these items can often only be used once before they must be discarded.
Announcing the launch, Raj Menon, Country Manager, India at InterfaceFLOR said, “Unlike typical glue installations, TacTiles™ leave no residue on the floor to be removed and create no damage to the subfloor. This product is particularly suitable for any building where conservation is a priority, including older buildings with hardwood flooring. It is also appropriate for facilities that cannot afford to interrupt normal working conditions. With TacTiles™, carpeting is permanently installed without the difficulties that surround permanent adhesion.”
“TacTiles™ would also reduce installation time by shortening the drying stage that glue requires. When the time comes to remove the carpet, users can slice through the TacTiles™ to create smaller sections for easy movement. In some cases, they can be cut to remove the floor as individual tiles, or the entire floor can simply be rolled up and carried out in one piece”, added Raj Menon.
